A professional starting point — not a rubber stamp.

SDSDraft produces a thorough, well-structured draft built from your inputs and the GHS standard. You — or your safety reviewer — confirm it reflects your actual formula before it goes out.

We say this plainly because it's how responsible compliance works. The sheet is a foundation your reviewer signs off on, saving hours of formatting and research — not a replacement for that final human check.

Structured to the 16-section GHS format, with classifications and codes filled in.
Clearly editable so you can adjust anything specific to your process.
Designed for a reviewer to read, confirm, and approve quickly.

Enterprise-grade compliance,
without the enterprise invoice.

Straight answers.

Is SDSDraft a certified SDS service?

No. SDSDraft is a drafting tool. It generates a starting draft from your ingredient list using a simplified GHS classification method. The generated document carries a DRAFT label and footer on every page. You are responsible for verifying the hazard classification and content with a qualified safety professional, toxicologist, or regulatory consultant before using the SDS with any product. SDSDraft makes no representation of regulatory compliance.

Do I legally need an SDS?

If you manufacture, import, or distribute hazardous chemicals in the US, OSHA HazCom 2012 (29 CFR 1910.1200) requires you to provide an SDS to downstream users. Whether your specific product qualifies as a "hazardous chemical" depends on its formulation. Consult a regulatory professional if you are unsure. SDSDraft is not legal advice.

Why does enterprise SDS software charge $1,495?

Professional SDS services provide a review by a trained industrial hygienist or toxicologist who verifies classification, applies proper concentration cut-offs, and takes professional responsibility for the output. SDSDraft automates the structure and starting classification but does not provide that professional review. The $79 price reflects that: you are getting a drafting aid, not professional certification. The $1,416 gap is the cost of the professional's time and liability.

How accurate is the GHS classification?

SDSDraft uses a simplification: it aggregates hazards across all listed ingredients without applying concentration cut-offs or the additivity formula used in proper GHS classification. This is conservative — it tends to over-classify rather than miss hazards — but it is not a professional determination. Verify with your ingredient supplier SDSs and a qualified person.

What do the DRAFT watermark and footer mean?

Every PDF generated by SDSDraft carries a footer on every page: "DRAFT — verify before use. Generated by SDSDraft. Not a substitute for professional hazard classification." Free-tier documents also carry a diagonal watermark. The paid version removes the diagonal watermark but keeps the footer — required by design to prevent misuse of unverified drafts as finished regulatory documents.

Can I use the SDS to sell on Amazon or Etsy?

Amazon and Etsy have their own SDS submission requirements. SDSDraft generates a GHS-structured PDF draft, but whether it meets their specific submission requirements is something you must verify with those platforms and your regulatory advisor.

How do the 100 credits work?

Each generated SDS costs one credit. 100 covers an entire small-manufacturer catalog several times over. Credits never expire and there is no subscription. If you need more, contact support.

What is an emergency phone number?

OSHA HazCom and GHS require an emergency telephone number in Section 1 of the SDS. CHEMTREC (+1 800-424-9300) offers 24-hour emergency response guidance as a paid service. The phone number must be staffed and reachable 24/7 — a business line alone does not meet the requirement.
